Prop Theatre is now accepting submissions for non-equity auditions for the devised punk ballet play, I Am Going to Die Alone and I Am Not Afraid.
ACTOR DESCRIPTION:
We are casting an ensemble of 5 Non-AEA women, femmes, and non-binary performers of all ages, races, ethnicities, and abilities, who thrive in a collaborative environment and are comfortable with music, devising and poetic language. Performers who play an instrument or sing are especially encouraged to submit!
I Am Going to Die Alone and I Am Not Afraid is a devised punk play exploring ancestral trauma, the fight against fascism, and exceptional acts of bravery. Told through the story of Francesca Mann, a polish ballerina who stole a Nazi officer's gun while being taken to the gas chambers, and other women who both died in and survived the holocaust, ...and I Am Not Afraid asks the question: how do you fight for the people who will come after you?
Pay: Minimum stipend of $250 guaranteed.
Prop Thtr believes that actors should be valued as much as any other artist working on a theatre production. Therefore, Prop Thtr has developed a model where every artist on our production is paid the same. In order to do this, every artist on every show commits to 3 marketing duties over the course of the run. Each artist will make a base stipend + a percentage of ticket sales. The range of pay is between $250 - $500 per artist.
Time Commitment:
Rehearsals begin: August 26th
Tech week runs: October 17th - October 22nd
Previews run: October 23rd - 27th
The show runs: October 28th - December 6th
Material To Prepare:
Music: a 1-minute sample of your music performance (instrumental or singing) and your choice of the poems, Try to Praise the Mutilated World or Daddy (text to be provided)
