Breakdown:
Role Name | Gender | Ethnicity | Age Range | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Eva | Female | Hispanic | 22-26 | Eva, an immigrant mother living in East LA, dreams of having a baby girl of her own. Although sometimes reserved, Eva likes to do the right thing because in her eyes, if you work hard and are good, God will bless you. However, Eva’s world turns upside down when an attorney approaches her and reveals that Eva was sterilized without consent during the birth of her first-born son. Now, she’s faced with the life-altering decision of whether or not to join nine other sterilized women in a lawsuit, and face the shame she might receive from her community and family. Jorge | Male | Hispanic | 24-30 | Like Eva, Jorge also dreams of a big family. A player for Los Chorizeros, a local East LA baseball team, he is full of life and a jokester. When Jorge finds out that his wife was one of many Mexican American mothers sterilized without consent by the local county hospital, he must learn how to navigate a new reality and what it means for their family. Must speak fluent spanish. |
Jessica | Female | Hispanic | 25-28 | Jessica is a 26-year-old attorney and fierce Chicana. She was born and raised in East LA and a recent graduate from law school. Rocio | Female | Hispanic | 60-70 | Rocio is Eva’s Abuela, and she can always tell when something is wrong with Eva. Her age has brought wisdom and strong, traditional family values. Must speak fluent Spanish. |
