Oil Lamp Theater is holding auditions for its eighth annual production of "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry. The play is an adaptation of the classic movie that has become a favorite of our patrons. Keith Gerth will direct the production.
The production will run November 29 to December 29 with rehearsals starting October 19. Please be aware that this show requires a significant time commitment. Tech will not include Thanksgiving Day, but will be earlier that week. There are matinee and evening performances on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the run. We perform Tuesdays through Sundays beginning December 17. There are 8 shows the week before Christmas and 6 shows the week after Christmas. There are no performances on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
These auditions will be held on Sunday, August 18 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Callbacks will be on Sunday, August 25 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. They will be held at the theater, 1723 Glenview Road, Glenview, IL.
The role of Bud Collyer (Uncle Billy, Mr. Gower and other roles) has been cast.
We are casting the following roles:
Freddie Fillmore: portrays Announcer, Mr. Potter and other roles
Jake Laurents: portrays George Bailey
Sally Applewhite: portrays Mary Hatch/Bailey
Lana Sherwood: portrays Violet Bick, Mrs. Bailey and other roles
Harry "Jazzbo" Heywood: portrays Clarence, Harry Bailey and other roles
Sound Effects Technician: creates all the on stage sound effects for the play
All cast members must be versatile and able to sing and do simple movement.
The production contains no sexual content or nudity. We will work with actors on costumes. Anything actors choose to provide that fit with the overall costume design concept are welcomed. The theater will supply any additional wardrobe. Actors are invited to assist with strike, but it is not required.
Compensation will be $1,000 for rehearsals and the run. There will be understudies for this production and they will be compensated at $500.
