Description:
The Fox and the Phoenix Theatre Company is seeking actors for the world premiere of Not Quite A Christmas Carol - a playful approach to Dickens' Christmas classic by David and Sharon Ello, directed by Kristina McCloskey.
Plot Summary: The Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future attempt to infuse modern flavors into this oft-told tale with humor, warmth, and a slight Christmas twist.
Five actors will be cast in single roles as follows:
Spirit of Christmas Past: echoes the style of classical Shakespearian actors; he takes himself and everything else quite seriously
Spirit of Christmas Present: practical, hopeful, and likely the most grounded of the three spirits; friendly and engaging
Spirit of Christmas Future: energetic - one might say hyperactive - and enthusiastic; knows how to have fun
Scrooge: Though the show's plot deviates some from the original Dickens tale, Scrooge himself remains a very traditional character
Adam: A young, modern-day version of Scrooge; his cynicism gives him protection from a world that has felt painful and unpredictable
The remaining 8 actors will play multiple characters throughout the show.
We are seeking an inclusive cast featuring actors of all body types, abilities, gender identities, and ethnicities. Gender and age in this show is expressive and fluid. Please submit for any character with whom you feel a connection.
Auditions will be held at North Shore Baptist Church, 5244 N. Lakewood, Chicago 60640
