Description:
BOOKS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK is City Lit's annual Banned Books Week readings series of short excerpts from the year's 10 books most frequently targeted by would-be censors, performed at libraries around Chicago and suburbs.
Characters:
African American woman, any adult age.
Male of any race or ethnicity, any adult age.
Auditions will be on Saturday, September 7, from 3:30 to 5:00 (five minute appointment)
Pay: $20 per performance; there are approximately seven performances
Time Commitment:
One rehearsal only, at a mutually agreeable time TBD. Each performance is about an hour long, usually followed by a discussion with the audience. The performance week is September 22-29. Performances are all seven days, with times varying from 11:00 AM (on Saturday) to 7:30 PM, so some daytime availability is required. Most performance times begin in the 4:00 to 7:00 range.
Material To Prepare:
The audition will consist of sides from one or two of the books.
