Synopsis: Iyana, a humble janitor, leans on her community to get through a recent break up with a west loop yuppie. But In the transforming neighborhood of Bronzeville, gentrification forces residents out. The community she loves and relies on might soon be gone.
ROLES WE ARE LOOKING TO CAST:
Greene (Black/Female/40’s): She is a chatty neighborhood gossip with a heart of gold. Although Ms. Greene has a reputation for spreading other people’s information and talking her neighbors ears off, she has a soft spot for the films main character, Iyana. She is the mother of Elijah (11).
NAT (Black/Male/55-90): A skeptic who often pokes holes in Lewis's stories. Having recently retired, he spends his days shit-talking on the corner across from the liquor store. Friends with Lewis and Brooks.
Brooks (Black/ Male/55-90): A jokester who’d have no problem entertaining himself. He often balances Lewis and Nat out. He was born in raised in Chicago. Friends with Lewis and Nat.
Ms. Davis (Black/Female/60-100): The neighborhoods matriarchal figure. She is a watchful eye and a listening ear. She has a plethora of stories that always seem to relate to what your going through. Iyana’s mother figure.
Shooting Dates: September 26th-29th.
Audition Date: Sunday, September 8th
Shooting Location: Bronzeville and The Loop.
Other Info: This is a nonunion short film. There is no pay, but a copy of the film and meals will be provided.
