Sideshow Theatre Company is holding auditions for our upcoming production of Pro-Am by Brynne Frauenhoffer, directed by Regina Victor.

Most careers don't last longer than three months in Miami's professional-amateur porn scene. But that's about to change when rising star Chloe Kendall meets the driven trans performer Nastasia. The girls are doing it for themselves now, and for the first time, people won't just be watching them - they'll be paying attention.

A note from the director: Please submit for whichever role you feel suited for regardless of race or gender with the exception of Mackie (black femmes) and Nas (trans femmes, any race). Transparency, inclusion, and actor safety are priorities in this work, so please feel free to ask questions about the script or subject matter in advance.

Characters:
MOXIE/GABBY THORNE - Cis female, 18-25. BBW (Big Beautiful Woman) type, or a variation of fat-embracing "type". Any race. This track is two roles, Moxie and Gabby, who both have the same look and live in the house at different times. Moxie is a gamer who supports the other girls but gets frustrated by the lack of work she gets after 4 months of living in the house and trying out the Miami industry. Gabby Thorne is a Dungeons and Dragons/Game of Thrones/Skyrim devotee whose ideal work is fantasy porn; she's a sweet, good-hearted geek with a romantic side.

HAYLEY JAMES/LIVI CLAIRE - Cis female, 18+/early twenties. Teen type. Any race. This track is two roles, Hayley and Livi Claire, who are both the same "type" and live in the house at different times. Hayley James is a Southern girl from a deeply Baptist family. She's a former stripper with a lot of charm and straightforward demeanor who's been living in the house for about 5 months. Livi Claire is an aspiring porn star and writer (think femme-power memoirs a la Diablo Cody and Cheryl Strayed) from St. Louis. Perky and good natured, she's enthusiastic about her hands-on research in the world of adult entertainment.

MACKIE MAY - Cis female, 18+/early twenties. Teen type. Black. She spins sick beats in her cam sessions, and definitely brings the party to the house. Having lived in the house for two months, she's sick of the drama and wants everybody to get along. She already has a strong online following, and is exploring her comfort zone when it comes to onscreen videos.

GABBY'S DATE/CHLOE'S REGULAR - Cis male, 20s/30s. Any race. This track is two roles, Gabby's Date and Chloe's Regular. Gabby's Date is a Christian nerd, a church-going Game of Thrones fan who meets Gabby through an online dating service. He is seemingly sweet on the surface but has a temper when his masculinity or ideas of feminine purity are challenged. Peak #NotAllMen, #YesAllWomen. Chloe's Regular is a slightly older man who regularly visits Chloe's cam room. Gentle and a good listener, he seeks companionship as well as pleasure by maintaining online interactions with Chloe when he's not caring for his ailing mother.

NASTASIA (UNDERSTUDY) - Trans female, 20s. "TS" (Trans Sexual, the porn industry term for trans performer) type. Any race. Nas' cam room is always packed with visitors and it shows. Hailing from Syracuse, NY, and formerly employed as an escort and dom, she truly loves her work. She moves into the house to work in videos and go all the way to the top of the porn industry, and nothing will get in her way. She has sharp instincts and sharper style; her trust is hard-won but once you have it, she is in your corner.

JOE (UNDERSTUDY) - Cis male, mid-20s. White. Might come off initially as a douchebag but is really just a dude-bro sweetheart fumbling through attempts to become more nurturing and open-minded. Grew up in the Miami area and, after getting fired from Jiffy Lube, started seriously pursuing a career as a pornography talent scout. Not always good at what he does, but 100% devoted to his work and the models he employs (and with whom he shares the rental home).

CHLOE KENDALL (UNDERSTUDY) - Cis female, 18-25. Teen type. Non-white. Super driven, type A, adult entertainment savvy all through her own research, always makes big plans and goals. She knows her own mind, and she's never afraid to voice her opinions, which might rub some housemates the wrong way--but it's also pretty inspiring. Plus, her carefully-curated online persona definitely makes big money.

JENNI JAXON (UNDERSTUDY) - Cis female, mid 20s. MILF type. White. She's the oldest model in the house, and she's also been around the porn scene the longest. She knows Joe, knows Miami, knows the cycle of girls coming in and out. She's always got a vape, a cigarette, or a bowl handy--then sometimes pills, vodka, etc. She talks a lot of shit and cracks irreverent jokes, but she's tender underneath; she gets attached to her housemates in spite of herself, and she clumsily tries to protect these vulnerabilities through her many chemical habits.

Auditions will be held at About Face Theatre, 5252 N Broadway, the 70's Room

Pay: $450 for principals, $300 for understudies

Time Commitment:
1st Rehearsal: Monday, April 6, 2020
Rehearsals: Mondays-Thursdays at 6:30-10:30pm, Sundays at 2-6pm
Tech/Previews: May 13-20, 2020
Opening: May 21 and 22, 2020
Run: Thurdays-Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2:30pm
Closing: June 21, 2020

Performances will take place at the Richard Christiansen Theater at Victory Gardens
