Description:
Black Button Eyes Productions is seeking actor submissions for their upcoming winter production of the Chicago Premiere of the musical WHISPER HOUSE by Duncan Sheik and Kyle Jarrow.
Plot: When Christopher's father is shot down in the Pacific during World War 2, the young boy is sent to live with his foreboding aunt in her very remote - and very haunted - lighthouse. Despite any lurking spirits, the most fearsome demons Christopher will need to confront lie within.
We are casting for the following roles:
"BOY" GHOST- Part of a duo of ghostly lovers who drowned in the early 1900s and now haunt the lighthouse and shoreline seeking revenge. Excellent actor/singer with a rock sound who also plays additional instruments (guitar, keyboard especially)
"GIRL" GHOST- Part of a duo of ghostly lovers who drowned in the early 1900s and now haunt the lighthouse and shoreline seeking revenge. Excellent actor/singer with a rock sound who also plays additional instruments (guitar, keyboard especially)
LILY- Reads 30s to 40s. Tends the lighthouse and is unused to connecting with or tolerating children. Mostly keeps to herself. Despite her forbidding exterior, has both great passion and great longing. Bound by her secrets and guilt from long ago. Good singing voice is nice-to-have but the 'Boy' and 'Girl' ghost roles do most of the singing in the show.
(COVER/UNDERSTUDY) YASUHIRO- Reads 30s to 40s. Works for Lily, and cares for her deeply, though he is unsure how to show it or whether she returns his feelings. Immigrated from Japan, which has made living in the United States increasingly difficult as the war progresses. This role is cast, but we are seeking an understudy to cover the role with at least one guaranteed performance.
