Description:
DOUBLE VISION is a new musical making its Midwest premiere as part of the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival in February 2020. The show follows an astrophysics PhD student and an emerging filmmaker as they strive to make their marks on the world, threaded with themes of commitment, motivation, love, discovery, and achievement through science fiction and comedic lenses.
Astrophysics PhD candidate Luke needs to prove his theory of parallel universes for his dissertation. Rising young filmmaker Sam needs to salvage her latest pilot script for a chance at a big break in television. When Luke successfully opens a wormhole and finds Sam on the other side, the two discover that they can help each other more than they think.
DOUBLE VISION is an original sci-fi comedy musical by Olivia Popp about science (well, sort of), love (okay, kind of), relationships (in more ways than one), and the power of seeking something new. An original show of galactic proportions, DOUBLE VISION turns musical theatre on its head with science fiction inspiration, queer- and POC-centered narratives, and an 80s rock-inspired score.
