Description:
Lifeline is seeking actors and understudies for their upcoming production of Middle Passage, co-adapted by David Barr III and Ilesa Duncan and directed by Ilesa Duncan. This is a non-union production.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, October 29th, Wednesday, October 30th, and Thursday, October 31st from 1pm-5pm each day.
AVAILABLE ROLES:
#8: Isadora Bailey/African Mother: Black, Female Identified, 19-22yrs. Boston raised schoolteacher who relocated to New Orleans. Upper middle class, well educated; Also plays Allmuseri mother, warrior.
#2: Santos/Diamelo UNDERSTUDY: Black, Male Identified, 30s-40s Santos: dirt-pit wrestler ("walking wrecking crew); Diamelo - Allmuseri tribesman who seen as leader due to family's wealth/standing in Africa, easy to anger
#6: Peter Cringle/Rev. Chandler UNDERSTUDY: Male Identified, 25-35 Young British Lieutenant (prefer RP dialect) and disappointment to his family. Disrespected by his Captain and crew.
#5: Josiah Squibb, et al UNDERSTUDY: Male Identified, 50s-70s Cook on The Republic, British from West Country (Bristol or Liverpool dialect) -- befriends Rutherford.
Material To Prepare:
Auditions will consist of reading sides (provided upon submission) and a short cut of a folk song.
Black character roles can prepare any folk song from African, Afro-Cuban, or African-American culture. Non-black roles can prepare any Old English/American folk song/sea shanty.
