Description:
An African-American woman preps for her interview: This short will focus on the obstacles and pressures some black women face before interviewing for jobs. These examples mainly consist of how we as black individuals have to conform to white societal norms and watering yourself's down in order to appear as "professional" and an acceptable candidate for a job. Major examples of this include, hair politics (what black styles of hair are "acceptable" and what aren't), black individuals having to change their vernacular in order to sound more "intelligent" (code switching), how a woman does her makeup (contouring to ease traditional african features), how she dresses (women hiding their curves because they don't want to be seen as dressing unprofessional), etc.
