Description:
Raven Theatre is looking for understudies for the upcoming production of A DOLL'S HOUSE, the version adapted by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt, directed by Lauren Shouse, the 3rd play in Raven's 2019-2020 season. Please submit only if you are interested and available. Check dates below. We are accepting digital headshot/resume submissions, and will be sending sides and asking for video auditions (after hs/r submissions) for the following roles:
TORVALD: white, male-identifying actor in his mid to late 30s. Charming, proud, dashing. He has always seen Nora as a little girl and not an equal (because she is a woman), however, it is important that he is not a total jerk. Please attach your current headshot and resume to an email with TORVALD UNDERSTUDY in the subject line to casting@raventheatre.com
NORA: a female-identifying actor of color in her late twenties, early 30s . Strong, quick-witted, shifts from humor to vulnerability on a dime. Nora is a clever maneuverer who knows how to "play a part". Please attach your current headshot and resume to an email with NORA UNDERSTUDY in the subject line to casting@raventheatre.com
DR. RANK: any ethnicity male-identifying actor in his 40s or 50s. He is a gentle, kind-hearted guy who is dying too young, and he knows it. We should feel that he and Nora have a real bond. Please attach your current headshot and resume to an email with DR. RANK UNDERSTUDY in the subject line to casting@raventheatre.com
KROGSTAD: any ethnicity male-identifying actor in his 30s. He is street smart and weathered, not an evil guy, but a guy without options. He knows how to manipulate to get what he wants. He has to feel threatening at first; but then we see he is also a guy that has been dealt a bad hand. Please attach your current headshot and resume to an email with KROGSTAD UNDERSTUDY in the subject line to casting@raventheatre.com
ANNE-MARIE, any ethnicity, female-identifying who reads 45+. (This actor may also cover the non-speaking housemaid whose name is HELENE.) She is like a mother-figure to Nora. Very maternal, wise, and sees all the complexities of this household. Please attach your current headshot and resume to an email with ANNE-MARIE UNDERSTUDY in the subject line to casting@raventheatre.com
