Description:
"Black Cat" is a short film centered around the end of a friendship between two people who believe they are more than ready to move on. Miles and Nate, who feel the life they've lead to this point has 'fallen short,' see the deterioration of their friendship come to a head as they both prepare for their 'real life.' But before they can move on they must sell a piece of their past, a pair of autographed J's they've shared since they were kids, in order to fund their future. Along the way they come to grips with their past and confront questions of loyalty, loneliness, and longing for something more.
Breakdown:
Role Name | Gender | Ethnicity | Age Range | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Miles | Male | Any | 19-26 | Character is mostly NONDESCRIPT (besides age/gender). All who are interested in portraying the following character are encouraged to apply; as the friend who always thought that, at some point in his future his life would be filled with people who'd fully understand and appreciate him, Miles is not precious about his friendship with Nate (his closest friend). He caries himself with a silent narcissism and the dead weight of his 'ingrained' expectations of his 'ideal life.' In his pursuit of this, the weight not only becomes too much for him to bear, but too much for those around him as well. |
Nate | Male | Any | 19-27 | The character is a usually confident person who's personal identity, for the first time since he could remember, is beginning to feel in question. He is strong in his convictions and results oriented. He is a reseller (a person who buys in-demand items and sells them at a mark up) and gets a good feeling from exploiting people's hype for items. Nate lives in a world where little is valued over loyalty and his failure to bring Miles into it with him has caused them to seperate. |
