Possibilities Theatre Company announces auditions for their inaugural production of Smokefall by Noah Haidle.

Possibilities Theatre Company seeks to harvest an adventurous, creative environment where people from all walks of life are welcome and safe to take risks, try new things, and build a community. Possibilities strives to work with new artists and encourage them to venture into new art forms that they may be unfamiliar with. Possibilities Theatre is committed to respecting their artists time, talent, and prosperity, and intends to always operate accordingly.

Magical realism collides with manic vaudeville in a family drama unlike any you've ever seen. Fetuses swap philosophy while awaiting their birth, a daughter eats dirt and doesn't speak, a father is about to drive away and never return, and there's an apple tree growing through the walls of the house. Whipping from astonishing tenderness to profound humor and back again, SMOKEFALL explores the lives of a family in a lyrical treatise on the fragility of life and the power of love.

Smokefall auditions will be held live over Zoom June 23rd and June 24th from 7 - 10 PM. With callbacks scheduled (also live, over Zoom), Sunday, June 28th from 7- 10 PM.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

VIOLET: A Housewife. Pregnant.

DANIEL: Her husband. Hollowed.

BEAUTY: Their daughter. Doesn't speak. The most beautiful sixteen-year-old girl in the world (not defined by cosmetic beauty, but inner).

COLONEL: Violet's father. Doesn't remember much.

FOOTNOTE: Our narrator.

FETUS ONE and FETUS TWO: The twins inside Violet. Played by actors playing Daniel and Footnote, respectively.

JOHNNY: Fetus Two all grown up. Grown up and grown old. Played by actor playing Colonel.

SAMUEL: Johnny's son. Played by actor playing the Colonel.

Roles are open to people of all genders, ethnicities, body types, and abilities!

Possibilities Theatre Company is committed to abiding by the Not in Our House standards.

Actors will be paid by split of admission donations!

Time Commitment:
Smokefall will be performed August 14th, 15th, 21st and 22nd at 7 PM in an outdoor location on the Northside of Chicago. Audiences will be limited to 25 people, and all social distance precautions will be abided by. In the event it is not safe to perform outside (if Chicago hasn't made it to Phase 4 or beyond), this will be performed live, over Zoom- likely with the cast performing live, and setting up a live stream, but should things fall back, we will do the full thing over Zoom, but I don't foresee that being necessary.

Rehearsals will be held in-person, with no more than 7 people in the room- cast, director, and SM. All social distancing requirements will be followed in rehearsals, staging, and performance.
