Project Title | The Star-Crossed Lovers Fest |
Description:
The Star-Crossed Lovers Fest is an evening of short plays and solo performances that examine what it's like to be separated from the one you love--whether it's because of a centuries-old grudge, a plague, global events, a messy breakup, a missed connection, or anything else!
We are seeking short plays (playwrights can determine if they would like to provide their own director and actors or have a member of Accidental Shakespeare direct and cast), as well as storytelling, poetry, music, comedy, clown, other performance art, and even visual art. Scenes or monologues from Shakespeare or other classical texts that are on-theme are also welcome!
The festival's theme is inspired by Accidental Shakespeare's planned 2021 production of Romeo and Juliet and by the current pandemic, but your piece does not have to be directly related to either, as long as it's related to the broader theme of "star-crossed lovers" in some way.
This is a volunteer opportunity. The festival will be totally free of charge (with donations welcome) for audience members to view over social media.
Time Commitment:
The performance will take place over Zoom and will be streamed live to Facebook on September 19 at 7:30pm CST. There will be an optional tech call on the evening of September 18 for performers to test sound and video quality.
