Description:
The Beverly Arts Center is looking for five African American actors for a virtual reading of excerpts from "Front Porch Society" written by southside playwright, Melda Beaty. The virtual reading will be directed by Delia Gray. Four women and one man all who speak with a southern Mississippi accent.
Female characters are all able-bodied women in their late sixties/late seventies and one ninety-five year old who is slightly hard of hearing.
The male character is the neighborhood postman, a God-fearing and proud father in his late fifties.
Actors will receive a $125 stipend for their performance via Zoom Webinar on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 3pm.
Actors must have access to a computer, laptop, or Ipad/tablet, strong connection to a wireless internet signal, and experience with Zoom and Zoom webinar a plus.
Time Commitment:
-Callbacks will be the following week either Wednesday 9/23 or 9/24th. Selected performers for a callback will be contacted by director via phone.
-Rehearsals via Zoom October 14th and October 21st 4:00-8:00PM
-Performance via Zoom Sunday, October 25th, 2020 at 3:00PM

Please prepare a 1 to 2-minute monologue, which may showcase one or more of the following character traits: cynical, grief stricken, socially snooty, disagreeable, unapologetically direct, busy body, and/or nosey.
