Description:
Due to COVID-19, there will be no in person auditions and you/your client is selected for anaudition, you/your client will be required to send in a self-tape or you/your client have a scheduled time for an online video audition with the Casting Director using ZOOM, so please confirm or decline you/your client time and note if you/your client are going to send in self-tape instead. STORYLINE: Santiago lives with his family in California after emigrating from Mexico many years ago. One day, he gets in his car and starts to make a trip South-his destination unclear. As an undocumented immigrant, the drive can be risky for him and we watch Santiago as he nervously navigates the journey. At the same time, Elena, an older woman living in Mexico, begins to pack her things for a journey North, embarking on a long bus ride to Tijuana. Santiago and Elena, mother and son, reunite at the beach on opposite sides of the Mexico-US border where the wall stretches out into the ocean to share an afternoon together before each returns to their separate lives in their respective countries.

As painful as the circumstances is, he has accepted his fate and life in California and views the situation as the only way to support his family, his wife Ana, and his son…LEAD. NOTE: You must be fluent in Spanish as all lines in the film are in Spanish and to be spoken with a Mexican Accent. You must also be able to read the script in English and translate to Spanish and able to speak in English to the production crew. Please note if you are a local talent to the area of San Diego/ Imperial County, CA and will also be shooting at the border at Tijuana, Mexico. Shoot Days: 4-6 days. |
ELENA ROMERO | Female | Hispanic | 65-75 | She is an elderly Spanish speaking Mexican woman with a dark complexion, greyish white hair, frail and smaller in stature. Elena walks slower paced due to having a little trouble walking, but she is still able to get around and makes various handmade goods at her Mexico shop shack. Elena plans to embark on a long bus trip to Tijuana to reunite with her estranged son, Santiago…LEAD. |
ANA ROMERO | Female | Any | 35-43 | She is a slim, natural looking, long-haired Spanish speaking Mexican woman, living undocumented in the US with her son and her husband Santiago. Ana has had a similar life to her husband, who is also from Mexico and works long hours as a waitress. Ana balances her work and home life by tidying up the house and cooking dinner for her family and husband before heading to work and their long work hours make it difficult to spend much time together. Ana’s main concern is the safety of her family, so she is reluctant to let Santiago go on a trip to the Mexico-US border to reunite after decades apart with his estranged mother who lives in Mexico. Ana is concerned because of the risk for Santiago as an undocumented immigrant, but she finally gives her blessing for her husband to reunite with his mother Elena…SUPPORTING.
