Description:
The Sixth Festival is a new, fringe-style festival around climate change launching in Chicago this Earth Day, 2021. It is not going to be a festival of events about the melting ice caps. The climate crisis is as expansive as the varieties of hell it is going to cause, and needs participation and solutions that are just as diverse.
We are seeking events, individuals wishing to be part of events, and your grandmother, if she would like to come out to the march that will be the opening kickoff.
**All events will be outdoors or online for this first year due to COVID**
There are Main Events that the festival will produce itself, including a festival of short plays hosted by the Chicago Dramatists partnered with local universities, a poetry slam in a park, an urban gardening demonstration and talk, a film festival, and more.
There are also Fringe Events that will be brought by applicants themselves which will be anything applicants wish them to be: music, plays on all types of topics, anything.
Submissions for individuals and for events that require partnering will be open until February 1, 2021.
Submissions for fully independent events will be open until March 1, 2021.
The festival runs April 22 - May 2.
No partnering will be finalized without the consent of all parties. Submitting as an actor, writer, or artist wishing to contribute to a project may mean a round of auditions or application after you submit to the festival.
**There will be no funding or payment from the festival itself this year, though Fringe Events may offer some pay.**
Take part. The world needs it.
