Auditions are here and we want to see you! We will be having two productions this year and we want you in them. All performances will be VIRTUAL & PRERECORDED and all rehearsals will be VIRTUAL until two weeks BEFORE tech week, until further notice
Audition Date: January 30th, 11am-4pm via Zoom (Self Tapes will also be accepted until January 30th at 11:59pm)
Seeking Non-Equity Actors for both shows, EMC may apply. We believe in Color Conscious Casting and those with disabilities are encouraged to audition.
Show Descriptions:
BIPOC Playwrights Festival (2 weekend event, May 21st-May30th)- A festival dedicated to BIPOC Playwrights and Artists. 10 One Act Plays, One Person Shows and/or Stand Up Comedy Routines will be accepted and 10 Directors will be selected.
Character Breakdown For Both Shows: Ages 14 & Up, Open Ethnicity
Submission Requirements:
Playwrights-MUST BE A BIPOC PLAYWRIGHT, Plays, One Person Shows and/or Stand Up Comedy Routine no longer than 10 minutes. Email your materials to perceptionstheatre@gmail.com, with BIPOC Playwright Fest Submission in the subject line.
Directors-MUST BE A BIPOC DIRECTOR, Resume, Samples of Previous Work (optional but encouraged), and Headshot (optional but encouraged). BIPOC Play Fest Director Submission in the subject line.
Actors/Artists: Headshot and Resume. Prepare a 1 minute contemporary monologue and email your headshot and resume to perceptionstheatre@gmail.com, with Audition Submission in the subject line AFTER you sign up for an audition slot.
Pay: $50 Stipend for Playwrights, Directors and Actors/Artists, may inquire in email submission.
Show Descriptions:
Devised Quarantine Play (Premieres September thru October)- This devised play will follow the lives of four young people and how they have been dealing with this past year. Featuring POV of Actors will work with Director and a Playwright Supervisor to create the play.
Character Breakdown For Both Shows: Ages 14 - 25, Open Ethnicity.
4 perspectives total: youth use to freedom and partying, incarcerated youth (still in prison), activist youth who become incarcerated after protesting (someone who never went to prison) , and youth with a child. We greatly encourage previously incarcerated youth and activist youth to audition.
