GALAXY THEATER COMPANY announces AUDITIONS for their upcoming production of the romantic comedy, O'BRIEN & O'BRIAN, written by local playwright John Enright, and directed by Nancy Alvarez.

Auditions, callbacks, rehearsals, and performances will be held at The First Congregational Church of La Grange, located at 100 6th Avenue, La Grange, Illinois 60525.

THE STORY:
Darlene O'Brien is a young lawyer who has a few cases to her credit. To save some money, she's decided to share office space with her study partner, and one-time-fling, Alan O'Brian. Alan is settling in when Sam walks in with a pond problem at his vacation home. With the EPA on his back, he needs a good lawyer. It just so happens that Darlene has a contact, a professor with whom she had a relationship that had a rather abrupt ending. Brenda, the EPA lawyer, is looking for answers that have nothing to do with protecting the environment. Sam still has a mysterious pond and, not to mention, an on-again off-again Irish ex-wife named Maeve who is looking to file a counter suit for damages, as she is the permanent resident of the vacation home... and what's up with that pond? Why is it a problem? Well, it used to be a stream... it was all a stream. From study partners to marriage partners, to partners in law, and in love, what we seek is connection. What we get is just plain fun from the works of local playwright, John Enright.

CAST OF CHARACTERS: (PLEASE NOTE: Those auditioning for Irish characters should be prepared to use an Irish accent.)

DARLENE O'BRIEN (Lead/F/25-40s): Lawyer with a little OCD and a complicated romantic past. Had a fling with ALAN and had a relationship with BRENDA, her former professor.

ALAN O'BRIAN (Lead/M/25-40s): Lawyer with little attention to detail, but friendly and mostly oblivious.

SAM (Supporting/M/40s-60s): A somewhat wealthy, yet irresponsible gentleman with a quick wit, but lacks the ability to see the big picture. Was married to MAEVE and is still seeing her on occasion.

MAEVE (Supporting/F/30s-50s): Opinionated, sure, and sharp. Was married to SAM and is still seeing him on occasion. Must speak with an Irish brogue.

BRENDA (Supporting/F/30s-50s): EPA lawyer and professor, charismatic and manipulative. Was DARLENE and ALAN's professor in law school. Was in a relationship with DARLENE.

CAITLIN (Supporting/F/30s-50s): Lawyer, childhood friend of MAEVE from Ireland. Speaks with an Irish brogue.

THE LOCATION:
The entrance to the theater space is located on East Cossitt Avenue. Enter through beige-colored, windowed, double-doors at the bottom of the stairs/ramp towards the West side of the church. Free covered parking is available in the Public Parking Garage one half block North at 56 6th Avenue.
