Play description: On the eve of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, the Day family, reeling from the death of their beloved mother Ellen, contemplates what their lives will be like when granted freedom without their matriarch. With little education and only skilled in manual labor, they soon begin to wonder if being free will allow them to live the lives their mother often spoke of with fondness before her untimely death.

SEEKING:
Cecelia Day: female, 30's, strong-willed, insightful and cautious, has taken on a motherly role since the death of of Ellen.
Benford Day: male, late 20's to early 30's, suffers from an undetermined mental delay, calm, often sings to himself. Hard worker. Prone to forgetfulness he often draws pictures to aid his memory.
Role of Elijah already cast.
COMPENSATION:
$250 per role/includes 2.5 week rehearsal period and one performance day. Roles are contracted with guaranteed royalties from streams in perpetuity.
PERFORMANCE DAY:
On location filming on a full run through of the play with full availability for a 6-hour day.
Actors will be transported to set location.
Must be full vaccinated.
*Anticipated performance date late August/early September. Must have great flexibility and availability during this time frame. Rehearsals: early to mid August in Philadelphia.
