The Museum of the American Revolution is seeking an actor from the Philadelphia region to portray Elizabeth Freeman, a formerly enslaved African American women who sued for her freedom, in a one-person play that will debut in October 2022. Auditions and rehearsals will occur from late August to early October. The play will be delivered on multiple platforms and physical spaces, including on location at the Museum and offsite, in live virtual performances, and in pre-recorded video performances hosted on the Museum website. Audiences will include Museum guests, school students, and community organizations. Applicants must be able to convincingly portray an African American woman between 45 and 70 years old. Experience with solo performance a plus but not required. This is a part time contracted position.
