Description:
Seeking actors for a workshop production of Camelot Lost, a new play by J. A. Green, directed by Christl Climans. All identities, genders, ethnicities encouraged to submit. Experience with classical texts and doubling multiple roles is a plus.
Adapted from "Le Morte d'Arthur" by Thomas Mallory, Camelot Lost dramatizes the end of King Arthur's story in a style that draws inspiration from Elizabethan verse and contemporary satire. Presented in association with Renegade Productions' New Play Workshop series, this production will be set in modern day.
Character Breakdown:
Aurther (male, late 30's) Any ethnicity. King from a young age. Always tries to do the right thing.
Gwenivear (female, early 30's) Any ethnicity. Bored of being queen. Having an affair with Lanselot.
Duchess of Cornwall (female, late 30's) Any ethnicity. Aurther's cousin. Ambitious and urbane.
Morgaine (female, mid 30's) Any ethnicity. The ghost of Aurther's sister. Wise and powerful.
Ytare (female, early 20's) Any ethnicity. A young woman. Shrewd and secretive.
Lanselot (male, mid 30's) Any ethnicity. Having an affair with Gwenivear. Feels tremendous guilt.
Bedivear (male, mid 30's) Any ethnicity. Aurther's right hand man. Loyal to a fault.
Gawain (male, late 20's) Any ethnicity. Aurther's nephew. A libertine.
Moiredraed (male, mid 20's) Any ethnicity. Gawain's half brother. A bastard.
Malagant (male, mid 20's) Any ethnicity. Kidnaps Gwenivear. Smug and self-assured until anyone challenges him.
Dagonet (female, mid 20's) Any ethnicity. Aurther's jester. A witty fool.
Peleas (male, early 20's) Any ethnicity. A young man. Earnest and emotional.
Rehearsals: October 2 - 30 at The Edge Theater (5451 N Broadway). Sunday afternoons, Monday through Thursday evenings.
Performances: November 3 - 6.
