Stage Left Theatre fall mainstage is seeking Understudies to be seen via zoom September 17th
MAN OF THE PEOPLE written by Dolores Diaz and directed by Anna C. Bahow: A charlatan doctor rises to power by pedaling a radical remedy in the days before medical regulation in the U.S. Man of the People explores the U.S. love affair with charlatans and their existence in the space between symptom and cause of public folly. Inspired by actual events.
Man Of the People - Character Break Down
Brinkley - 30's to 50"s charismatic doctor - glib charlatan.
Jim - 30's to 50's earnest farmer with a problem / this track also plays a lawyer and other roles.
Minnie - 30's to 40's wistful, playful married to Brickley has gotten more than she bargained for.
Fannie - 50's to 70's Fishbien's mother - devoted to Brinkley to her son's frustration.
Fishbein - 30's- 50's Doctor with the American Medical Association Journal determined to take Brinkley down.
Maxwell - 30's-40's Doctor and colleague of Fishbein - more even-tempered than his colleague and possible partner Fishbein / this track also plays a lawyer and other roles.
REHEARSAL AND PRODUCTION INFO
Performances and Rehearsals will take place at Chicago Dramatists 1105 W Chicago Ave.
All ARTISTS and STAFF MUST BE VACCINATED
Rehearsals up to Dress will be masked
All artists will be required to take a COVID test once per week. (Please let us know if this might be a hardship and we can look into supplying)
Rehearsals and Performances will be at Chicago Dramatists TBD occasional alternate location as needed
Compensation will be a $150 stipend
Rehearsals start September 6th evenings and weekends, production opens October 24th and runs through November 20th. A detailed production calendar will be emailed to you should you be called in.
