For the audition, adult actors should prepare a 16-32 bar cut of a song in the style of the show and bring their sheet music. Child actors should also prepare 16-32 bars, and bring an accompanying track, as no pianist will be present on Tuesday. No performance conflicts will be accepted.
THE STORY:
Borrowing from the Arthurian legends, Lerner and Loewe’s Camelot is the duo’s masterpiece which triumphed on Broadway in the legendary original production that led to a film version and revivals across the globe. The Original Broadway Cast Album topped the charts for 60 weeks, with a score boasting such gems as “If Ever I Would Leave You,” “The Lusty Month of May,” and of course, “Camelot.” An idealistic King Arthur hopes to create a kingdom built on honor and dignity, embodied by his Knights of The Round Table. His Ideals, however, are tested when his lovely queen, Guenevere, falls in love with the knight, Lancelot, and the fate of the kingdom hangs in the balance. This version of the show was adjusted to suit a smaller ensemble and setting, making the Ritz’s black box setup the perfect venue. The definitive score and characters remain with the script adapted for a more intimate production.
