Director Noel Hanley is seeking submissions for Louisa May Alcott’s LITTLE WOMEN, adapted for the stage by Josh Hitchens. This production will have performances on December 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 2022.
Audition dates are Sunday, September 25 (5pm-9pm), Monday, September 26 (6pm-9pm). Callback dates are Sunday, October 2 (5pm-9pm) and Monday, October 3 (6pm-9pm). Rehearsals are scheduled to begin in October.
In general, the four March sisters will be in the age range of late teens to late twenties. As the action of the play spans ten years from 1863-1873 there is great flexibility pertaining to the actual age of all the actors.
CHARACTERS IN THE PLAY:
MEG: the eldest sister, likes nice things. Adventurous, but also wants to settle down.
JO: the second eldest and the narrator of the play. A writer. “The man of the family.”
BETH: shy, sickly, musical, incredibly kind, and the peacemaker of the family.
AMY: the “baby” of the family, a painter, a young woman worried about her place in the world.
MARMEE: the matriarch of the family, in her 40s or 50s.There is a calm about her, a resolute quality. She holds this family together.
LAURIE: the boy next door, played by an actor in his 20s or 30s. Fascinated by the March family, and forms romantic attachments to several of them.
Auditions for this play are open to everyone, regardless of experience, ethnicity, or gender identity. We are especially interested in BIPOC actors to audition for this production.
