Are you a brilliant early- mid career Chicago playwright? If so, The Story Theatre is looking for you!
Apply for our Emerging Playwright Residency! The residency was founded in our inaugural season as a way to cultivate the growth of a local early career playwright by offering them a season-long residency that includes (but is not limited to):
-a fully-produced run of a full-length world-premiere play
-development of a brand new play through workshops, table work, dramaturgy, etc. with our Governing Ensemble, culminating in a public staged reading
-The Story's advocacy in getting literary managers and artistic directors from around the city to see your work
-an honorarium of $1,000 for the season (with additional compensation for time spent in the production process)

Applications are officially open for the Season IV Emerging Playwright Residency Program at The Story. We will be accepting applications until November 20, 2022, so, if you would like to be considered, please send your materials to literary@thestorytheatre.org. We sincerely hope you will apply!
Your application should include:
-a full-length world-premiere to be produced by The Story in 2023
-a one-page proposal for a new play to be developed by the Governing Ensemble
-a one-page artistic statement sharing your aesthetics, taste, working style, and point of view
-a resume
