A Note on Casting: "Bring us your talent!" Though some roles may have designated ages, genders, etc.; all roles are open to all actors of all ages and backgrounds.
HATCH (Lead, Male-identifying, any age): A carnival talker, the show's devilish emcee. He takes the audience into his confidence. Amused, scornful, and ready to animate the dead for entertainment. Holmes' guardian angel. This role requires singing "Daisy Bell".
H.H. HOLMES (Lead, Male-identifying, 30s): Pharmacist, businessman, romantic suitor-he can play all these parts because he's essentially a conman, and proud of it. A lonesome egotist, he's happy to find a friend in Ben. This role requires singing "Daisy Bell".
BEN PITEZEL (Lead, Male-identifying, 30s): A loving husband, good companion, problem drinker. He always thinks success is right around the corner. This role requires singing "Daisy Bell".
CARRIE PITEZEL (Lead, Female-identifying, 30s): A preacher's daughter with a sturdy moral sense. A seamstress. Loves her husband but clear-eyed about him. This role requires singing "Daisy Bell".
FRANK GEYER (Supporting, Male-identifying, 30-50): A detective with a strong sense of justice.
JULIA CONNER (Supporting, Female-identifying, 30-50): An ambitious woman burdened by a hesitant husband. She cushions the inevitable disappointments by expecting the worst. This role requires singing "After the Ball is Over".
NED CONNER (Supporting, Male-identifying, 30-50): A jeweler making the move to the big city. Cautious, contained.
QUINLAN (Supporting, Male-identifying, any age): A diligent museum worker who changed after a head injury. Twitchy and jerky. He sees Ben as a rival for Holmes' favor.
EMIE CIGRAND (Supporting, Female-identifying, 20s): A young churchgoer who sees good in everyone. A true believer.
Pay: $200-$400 artist fee, varies by role, plus % of ticket sales
