Myers Dinner Theatre, Hillsboro, Indiana, is seeking actors for The Sound of Music as well as company members for its 2023 season of shows. Currently we are seeking the following roles:
Captain Von Trapp - A retired Austrian naval captain. He is a widower. He's polished, yet very military in the way he runs his life; underneath, he is warm, understanding and determined. Regimented, dignified, commanding, manly, polished, noble, intelligent. Age to be played as: 35-40+ Vocal range: D5 to F#2/Gb2 Vocal Technique: Legit Dancing: Good dancing skills
Mother Abbess - The Mother Abbess is an inspirational leader for all the nuns at the Abby. She is a true big-hearted mother figure, loved, adored and respected. She has a bit of hidden spunk. Age to be played as: 40+ Vocal range: G#5/Ab 5 to B3 Vocal Technique: Operatic, Legit Dancing: Must be able to move
The 2023 season will include Sound of Music, Two By Two, Steel Magnolias, Grease, Sh Boom! Life Could Be A Dream, The Rat Pack Lounge, Mousetrap, and Annie. Our theatre for young audiences shows include Tom and Huck, and Junie B. Jones.
Weekly salary, housing and free meals (on show days) are provided. The theatre is especially seeking many different types of actors who sing and dance and can play a wide age-range.
Rehearsals begin January 30, 2023 and the show runs Feb 10 - March 11.
