Description:
Raven Theatre is seeking actors for the Midwest Premiere of THE OCTOBER STORM by Joshua Allen, Directed by Malkia Stampley.
An EPA will take place on Monday, January 23rd, from 11:30AM-6:30PM at Raven Theatre. If you are AEA, please request an audition appointment by emailing casting@raventheatre.com. You will be required to show your Equity card when checking in.
Per AEA, only Equity actors can get a scheduled timeslot. On the day of the EPA, you can show up at the audition location and sign up on the Walk-Ups list, and if there is enough time in-between Equity Appointments, which there will most definitely be, get seen for the audition, with preference to Equity Membership Candidates (EMC). Everyone on the EMC list must have been seen before the Monitors move on to the Non-Equity list.
Characters:
GLORIA, 16, Black/Biracial, Headstrong, whip-smart, ambitious, Gloria worships at the altar of a mother she never knew while straining at the boundaries her grandmother erected. She's coming into her sensuality and growing up much too fast.
MRS. ELKINS, 51, Black, Imperious and rule-bound, Mrs. Elkins reigns her household with an iron fist, but her unfulfilled potential simmers underneath. She hasn't laughed in years. She has a sexiness and youthfulness that she's dying to access.
LUCILLE, 62, Black, A retired teacher, Lucille suffers no fools. She is never afraid to tell truths that no one else will. She loves being a caretaker and is the conscience of the play. She can only get out of bed most days if she knows she can be useful.
LOUIS, 29, Black/Biracial, A troubled war vet searching for safety and tired of wandering, Louis is a powder keg waiting to detonate, but is looking for a quieter existence and a place to call home. He drinks a lot of milk.
CRUTCH, 15, Black, Naive, energetic, and hopelessly in love with Gloria, Crutch can only be happy if he knows he's making other people happy. He has a sensitive poet's soul that is driven by longing.
