Description:
Hear ye, hear ye!
Do you work well under pressure?
Do you have a passion for old Shakespeare tropes in modern-day stories?
Do you want to create art with some of your besties?
Or maybe, do you just like a little chaos?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then come join us for 48 Hours: Shakespeare Edition! In the course of just 2 days, we will write a play based on a famous Shakespearean trope, directors will stage, actors will memorize, rehearse, and perform!
Timeline:
Friday, 3/24, 3 PM- will be emailed their Shakespearean trope to write a play out of.
Saturday, 3/25, 2 PM- playwrights and directors will meet each other for the first time and have 1 hour to go over play together.
Saturday, 3/25, 3 PM - Sunday, 3/26, 2:59 PM- Directors have 24 hours to direct play with actors. They may use time in any way they see fit.
Sunday, 3/26, 3 PM- Plays will be performed at MyBuddy's Bar and Grill!
This is a great chance to have some low-commitment, creative fun! We encourage folks to sign-up together, for a chance to have a unique weekend experience with your friends! 48 Hours: Shakespeare Edition will act as a fundraiser for our upcoming production of MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. Due to the nature of this event, we are unfortunately not able to offer compensation at this time.
NOTE: Directors and actors are welcome to sign-up together! Each director/actor team should consist of 4 actors and 1 director. If a playwright and director are interested in working together, you may note it on the form but you will not know for certain who your playwright/director is until the 2 PM meeting on 3/25.
We encourage people to sign up for multiple roles if you have more than one artistic discipline- we will only assign one role (actor, playwright, or director) per person.
THINGS TO KNOW:
DIRECTORS: All experience levels welcome and encouraged to apply! Due to this being a 24-hour rehearsal period, we will not be holding auditions. You are welcome to involve anyone whom you want to work with- we will also have a pool of interested actors that we can assign to your team if you'd prefer! Directors are responsible for finding their own space for rehearsal.
PLAYWRIGHTS: All experience levels welcome and encouraged to apply! Plays are not a required length, but we recommend between 10-20 minutes long. If you have certain people you'd like working on your play, you can note that in your form. All plays must have the ability to be staged with 4 actors (doubling is acceptable). Once you write the play, you can sit-in on rehearsals if you want, but do not have to.
ACTORS: All experience levels and backgrounds welcome! You are welcome to submit your headshot and resume, and you will be put into our talent pool. You will be notified by 3/6 if you will be involved with this project.
