Kokandy Productions is currently accepting VIRTUAL SUBMISSIONS for The Spongebob Musical, directed by JD Caudill. The show will be produced at The Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park. Additional creative team will be announced soon.
This show is a celebration of diversity in body type, color, race, gender, age and life experience. We are seeking submissions from all ethnicities, genders and abilities (18+). Any role can be played by all genders.
VIDEO SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, MARCH 31. INVITED VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON CALLBACKS WILL BE SET UP ONCE THE SUBMISSION WINDOW IS CLOSED.

Come spend the summer in Bikini Bottom!
Stakes are higher than ever before as SpongeBob and the citizens of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage.
The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T's, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley. Additional lyrics are by Jonathan Coulton, with additional music by Tom Kitt. The musical production was conceived by Tina Landau.
We are casting for all roles! Current principal character vocal ranges are listed below for reference. Our team is open to all options and creative solutions for accommodating performers, where possible.

And an ensemble of 8-12 dynamic individuals who will portray Hip-Hop Dancers, Mob Fish, Sardines, Security Guards, Teen Fans, Sardine Devotees, A Big Chorus of Sponges, Buster Bluetang, Cowboy Fish, Gary the Puppet, Girl Fish Trio, Johnny the Bartender, Karen the Computer, Larry the Lobster, Sardines, Mrs. Puff, Old Man Jenkins, Patchy the Pirate, Pearl Krabs, Perch Perkins, Plankton's Backup Dancers, Pirates, The Electric Skates, The Mayor of Bikini Bottom, Sea Anemones, Sea Creatures and more. Yes, more. Glorious more.
Pay: $650 stipend
Rehearsals begin the week of May 8 (4-5 rehearsal per week; a mix of weekday evenings and weekend morning/afternoons). Tech begins mid-June. First preview Thursday, June 22. Opening night Friday, July 7. Regular performance week is Thur-Sat 7PM, Sun 5PM. The show will run through Sun, September 3.
VIDEOS: Please submit one (1) video file containing song submitted as either a direct YouTube or Vimeo link, or any method *not* requiring the video to be downloaded for viewing.
HEADSHOT/RESUME: Please submit together as one PDF file named LastName_FirstName. (ex. Squarepants_Spongebob.pdf).

Please submit one 32-bar cut (around 1 minute) that best shows off your voice and allows you to display your storytelling, acting abilities, character energy and natural vibe. The style of the show is very eclectic, with a range of artists and sounds on display. The OBC recording is available on Spotify and other platforms for your enjoyment. Lotsa bops.
Please submit your headshot & resume along with your video, and indicate whether you are interested in a specific role(s), if you have any specific dance (such as advanced tap) and instrument playing skills.
Also include any major conflicts with the rehearsal and production period (early May-early September). This production will utilize swings and understudies, so some conflicts may be accommodated.
