Kokandy Productions is currently accepting VIRTUAL SUBMISSIONS for the Chicago premiere of American Psycho: The Musical, directed by Producing Artistic DIrector Derek Van Barham. The show will be produced at The Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park. Additional creative team will be announced soon.

We are seeking submissions from all ethnicities, genders and abilities (18+). Any role can be played by all ethnicities.

American Psycho is a ruthless and daring new musical from Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, The Muckle Man, The Picture of Dorian Gray). Based on the electrifying novel by Bret Easton Ellis, the musical tells the story of Patrick Bateman, a young and handsome Wall Street banker with impeccable taste and unquenchable desires. Patrick and his elite group of friends spend their days in chic restaurants, exclusive clubs and designer labels. But at night, Patrick takes part in a darker indulgence, and his mask of sanity is starting to slip...

Several of the cast will also portray waitresses, bartenders, club kids, trainers, neighbors, prostitutes, doormen, Wall Street types and... Tom Cruise.

NOTE: Due to its content, we encourage interested performers to research the show before submitting. The West End recording is available on Spotify and other platforms for your reference, though it differs a bit from the currently licensed version. The script contains nudity, sex, alcohol/drug use, violence, graphic language (including homophobic and sexist slurs).

The creative team will include a choreographer as well as a violence and intimacy team. All scripted moments of intimacy and violence will be created in collaboration with the cast. This production will not always be going for realism, utilizing a wide vocabulary of styles to capture the events that unfold over the course of the show... many of which may not actually occur. Is it all in Patrick's head? We'll find out.

Pay: $650 stipend
