Description:
Steep Theatre is seeking actors for some roles and all understudies for our Summer 2023 production of The Writer by Ella Hickson, directed by Georgette Verdin. The production will take place at the Edge Theatre, 5451 N Broadway. Rehearsals begin on or around June 20, 2023, play opens August 11 and closes September 17. Non-Eq pay is $1750 for principal actors, $500 for understudies. We have one Equity Tier N contract.
Roles being cast:
FEMALE ACTOR/GIRLFRIEND: Person of color, mid to late 20s. A fiery personality unbound by her stature. Ideally, queer. Comfortable in her/their skin.
MALE ACTOR/BOYFRIEND: Mid to late 30's, any ethnicity. A commanding presence, which may or may not correlate to size. Holds status/power effortlessly. Also has a boyish/needy side.
DIRECTOR (understudy only): 40s, white male. Has moved through the world relatively unchallenged, and possesses the confidence of a 40-something white man in charge. Not unkind.
FEMALE ENSEMBLE- Two actors, any ethnicity. One mid to late 20s, one mid to late 30s. Movement experience a plus. Will appear in scene transitions described as an all female stage management team. These actors will also understudy the Writer and Female Actor/Girlfriend.
