Steel Beam Theatre, 111 W Main St, St Charles, IL 60174, announces auditions for its Second Story Players Production Head Over Heels, a jukebox musical comedy which features the songs of The Go-Go's and is the story of what happens when the royal court of Arcadia is threatened with the loss of its "Beat". A hilarious, exuberant celebration of love, Head Over Heels, includes hit songs "We Got the Beat", "Our Lips are Sealed", "Vacation" and "Heaven is a Place on Earth".
Stipend: $75 will be paid to each performer
Who can audition for HEAD OVER HEELS?
Performers aged 18 to 33 are welcome to audition.
In accordance with the Second Story Players mission, priority will be given to performers aged 20 to 30.
When can I audition for HEAD OVER HEELS?
In-person auditions will take place at Steel Beam Theatre (111 W Main St, St. Charles, IL 60174) on the following dates:
Saturday, May 27, 5:00pm to 8:00pm
Sunday, May 28, 9:30am to 12:30pm
CASTING BREAKDOWN
BASILIUS - King of Arcadia. A sexy, good ol' boy. A hothead, but not a despot. Blindly thinks Arcadia is doing great under his masculine rule, which will be sorely tested during the course of the show. Male Identifying. Vocal Range: Tenor
GYNECIA - Queen of Arcadia. Sexy, wise, beautiful. Like any longstanding spouse, knows how to get her way with her husband when push comes to shove. Female Identifying. Vocal Range: Alto
PAMELA - Basilius and Gynecia's older daughter. Confident and obsessed with her appearance. Known to be the most beautiful bachelorette throughout Arcadia. Female Identifying. Vocal Range Mezzo-Soprano with belt.
PHILOCLEA - Basilius and Gynecia's younger daughter. Shy and a "good girl," she yearns to follow her heart rather than obey her father's orders. Female Identifying. Vocal Range: Soprano with belt.
DAMETAS - The King's viceroy; father to Mopsa. Male Identifying. Vocal Range Tenor, Baritone, Bass
MOPSA - Handmaiden to Pamela. Warm, skeptical. Growing up without a mother has made her wise beyond her years about everyone and everything, which is why she is the (sometime) narrator to the show. Female Identifying. Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano with belt.
MUSIDORUS - A young shepherd who courts after Philoclea. A very offbeat hero who is great with physical comedy. Male Identifying Vocal Range: Tenor
PYTHIO - The Oracle; powerful, mysterious. Demanding. Great sense of humor--can see through everyone--they are the Oracle of Delphi, after all. Non-Binary Vocal Range: Alto or high Tenor
ENSEMBLE - Unique, charismatic individuals to inhabit the kingdom of Arcadia. Great Dancers. Vocal Range: All
Show Dates: August 4 - 13 (Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:30pm, Sundays @ 3pm)
Tech Dates: July 30 - August 3 (full tech schedule TBA)
Rehearsals Start: Table read on Sunday, June 4 at 10:00am

MUSIC: Please prepare a pop-rock audition cut no longer than 1 minute. This can be musical theatre, non-musical theatre, OR a cut from the show. You are expected to provide your own karaoke track. Either email your .mp3 file to amyelizajackson@gmail.com or come prepared with your phone. Speakers will be provided.
ACTING: Sides are available here. Please come prepared to read two of your choice.
DANCE: Come ready to learn and perform choreography in the style of the show.
