Description:
The second play (following last season's THE MARK OF KANE) in Mark Pracht's trilogy about the history of the comic book industry is about the 1950s Congressional investigation into comic books, and the effect of this on three people: William Gaines, creator of horror comics; Matt Baker, Black closeted gay artist of romance comics; and Janice Valleau, creator of an early woman-detective feature. Pracht will direct.
Cast of ten, two roles already cast.
All adult ages. Actors of color and LGBTQIA+ encouraged to audition.
Pay: $100 rehearsal stipend, plus $20 per performance (23 performances); total pay $560.
Audition Dates: Tuesday, May 30, and Wednesday, May 31. Both days from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Please specify if you have a conflict with one day or the other.
Rehearsals begin July 8. Evenings and weekends schedule.
Performances August 25-October 8. Fridays and Saturday at 7:30, Sundays at 3:00, plus two Monday performances, September 25 and October 2, both at 7:30.
The audition will be readings from the script. Sides will be provided in advance. Ten-minute appointments.
