Description:
We are seeking eight Latinx actors for a production of Peter Malmo, a re-imagining of Juan Rulfo's classic Mexican novel Pedro Paramo. The play is a part of Chicago Latino Theatre Alliance's Destinos Festival 2023. This show will run at the Raven Theater (6157 N Clark); most rehearsals will take place at North Park University.
We need Latinx actors for male and female roles; characters' ages range from young teen (female character) to older adults. Most actors will play more than one role. Ability to play a musical instrument is valued but not essential.
Auditions:
-Tuesday July 11, 7-9PM
-Wednesday July 12, 7-9PM
-Callbacks on Thursday July 13, 7-9PM
at North Park University (3225 W Foster); more exact directions will be provided in the email we send confirming your audition.
Pay: Actors will receive a total stipend of $400.
First read-through Wed August 16, 7-10PM. Rehearsals begin August 21, 7-10PM, mostly on Monday through Thursday, adding Saturdays from September 16. Performances Thu/Fri/Sat 7:30PM and Sun 3PM, October 5-29.
Actors should be prepared to present a 2-minute dramatic monologue or to recount a vivid and memorable story from childhood. If possible, please bring a photo and resume.
