Description:
Open Space Arts is actively seeking performers of all genders and ages interested in performing in readings, solo shows, and small productions including ROSENBERG, and other projects with Jewish themes. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to combating antisemitism and homophobia, we are on a transformative mission and are looking for talented individuals to join us.
Rosenberg is by David Meyers and will be directed by Michael D. Graham. It takes place in the Spring of 1953 after the verdict in the case of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg who were convicted of stealing American atomic secrets and handing them over to the Soviet Union, but before they were executed on June 19.
CHARACTERS
Sam Goodstein - Jewish Male, Early 30s - Successful lawyer at the Department of Justice. On his way up the ladder but aware that he is constantly under scrutiny because of his Jewishness.
Judith Goodstein - Jewish Female, Late 20s - Medical student, trying to find the right balance between schoolwork, housework, and social commitments. Sam's wife.
Dorothy Palmer - African-American Female, 20s - Paralegal with dreams of being a lawyer, well aware that any question of disloyalty could lead to losing her job and endangering her husband and children.
Robert Baldwin - White Protestant Male, 40s - Head of Sam's division at the Department of Justice. Hard-driven with an eye toward a career in politics.
