Eclectic Full Contact Theatre is now accepting submissions for their first annual Crashbox Festival of New Short Length Audio Plays, running 11/16-11/19 at The Edge Off Broadway Theatre, 1133 W Catalpa.
Crashbox is a celebration of radio drama-performers onstage, scripts in hand, playing multiple roles along with a live musician and live Foley artist. It features six short scripts written in a certain genre-this year it's Noir-performed in two three-show acts. This year's shows are:
Act 1
Club Noir-by Patrick Bates, directed by Rashaad Bond
Mr. In Between-by Dave Carley, directed by Rory Jobst
Bob The Cop-by Cary Pepper, directed by Linsey Falls
Act 2
The Big Dark-by Terry Glaser, directed by Stephanie Murphy
A Case of Deja Vu-by Conor McShane, directed by Natividad Salgado
Angles With Empty Juice Boxes-by J Gregory Moran, directed by Jennifer Hawk
Audition Dates: Video Submissions due by September 24th, in person auditions will be September 25th and 26th from 7-10 pm
Audition Location: Broadway United Methodist Church 3338 N Broadway. BUMC is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator to reach the audition space.
A note about characters-as these scripts are audio scripts and will be performed in the style of a live radio presentation, Actors are encouraged to audition for whatever roles they desire. EFCT is committed to casting that reflects the world we live in and the community we are a part of. Therefore, BIPOC, AAPI, Latine actors, actors of all gender identities, abilities, and body types are invited to audition for any character.
Crashbox rehearsals will be determined by the directors of each script and will be primarily online for the first few weeks. There will be mandatory in person rehearsals at Broadway United Methodist Church with the Foley Artist and musician in November, prior to tech. Dates and times TBD
Tech for actors begins 11/13 at the Edge Off Broadway Theatre 1133 W Catalpa. Act 1 techs 11/13 from 6-10, Act 2 techs 11/14 from 7-10, the entire show has a tech run 11/15 from 7-10.
Crashbox performs 11/16-11/19 Th-Sat at 7:30 and Sunday at 3:00.
The auditions will consist of readings from the scripts. Sides can be found at eclectic-theatre.com/auditions. Actors will choose one or two sides they wish to use to audition, and prepare those. It is not necessary to prepare all the sides, just pick one or two for the audition. A reader will be present.
