Description:
Open Space Arts seeks submissions for a workshop reading of Genevieve Sipperley's screenplay Love For Those Who Fall, directed by Melody DeRogatis.
Love For Those Who Fall follows the story of Amanda, a queer art critic who has always struggled with long-term relationships. When Amanda meets Ryan, will her luck change?
ROLES AVAILABLE:
Amanda: Female, late 30's/Early 40's, attractive business chic
Amanda comes from success and has never really had success with long term relationships. Work usually comes first and she doesn't invest a lot emotionally with the partners she is with. Even though she has dated plenty of males and females, nothing has been long term, and that has previously never bothered her.
Brian: Male, 30's, well put together
Brian is a business man that is now looking for something long term, but may have a straying eye at times. He does put forth the effort in relationships, and also hopes for the best in them, but also doesn't know when to call it quits.
Jason: Male, 30's bro-ish
Jason still thinks he lives in a frat house, but well past those years and doesn't have the verbal skills to hold strong conversation. He is superficial inside and out.
Kalie: Female, 30's, casual dress
Still doesn't have a solid career, and is interested in meeting new people and trying new things. She is a committed dater and while she has had long term relationships, approaches meeting someone with caution, but directness as she is eager to find "the one".
Jane: Female, early 20's
Full of life and ready to absorb any new adventure. Completely loyal to her friends, and very smart about art. She isn't focused on dating, but gives advice when asked. She is someone you would want to be with on a bad day, and in your corner should anything ever happen.
Ryan: Female, early 20's
Ryan is eager and ready to take on the world, mostly through her art though. She sees things from a different perspective, and while she is young she has that old soul that can connect her with almost any one or any age or background. She is kind, and also very sensible. While she has not had a lot of experience dating in her young adult years, she is willing to open herself up to the right person, should they ever come along.
Aliana: Female late 30's, any race, nicer dressed
True friend that is always down to meet you for brunch. Always a phone call away, and will meet up for drinks at a moment's notice. She likes to pry into others's relationships to not have to focus on her own. And while she hasn't had any success with long term dating, she holds out hope that maybe through talking about her friend's relationship, she will eventually navigate to find her own.
Roommate: Female, 20's
As annoying as they come. She thinks the world revolves around her and that she is the most special person in the room. Others seem to tolerate her because she is harmless enough, but she would not be a first pick for any social outing.
The purpose of this reading is to see how the script functions with actors and sits with an audience, so there will be several rehearsals and a few different performances.
