Improv Playhouse is seeking actors for its season-long, original touring production of "STEPS: An All-Inclusive Dance Party for an All-Inclusive Community!"
"STEPS" is part improv show, part play, and...you guessed it...part dance party extravaganza! Young audience members will join the fictional ABCD Dance Team as they confront their greatest challenge: choreographing a dance that promotes inclusivity in our communities! Step by step, this crew finds themselves not only shaking hips and turning heads, but also pirouetting-away their own negativity, leaping their leadership skills to new heights, and accenting their accomplishments. Actors will use their comedy and improv skills to create a show that is truly unique to the beat of each crowd!
CASTING BREAKDOWN
Note: Dance experience is absolutely not required to be a "dance team member." Furthermore, all levels of experience, body types, ethnicities, gender identities, and disabilities constitute a dancer in our books: we encourage all performers to submit accordingly.
ANDY - Dance team member, leader. Any gender.
BAILEY - Dance team member, conscientious. Any gender.
CHARLIE - Dance team member, silly. Any gender.
DANI - Dance team member, outgoing. Any gender.
An understudy will be cast for this production.
PAY RATE
All actors will receive a $100 rehearsal stipend, as well as an additional $40 per performance.* Travel stipends may also be provided.
*The number of shows will depend on demand and availability.
Actors will be contracted from mid-November (2023) - October (2024) with a four-week rehearsal-process at the start of the contract. For touring performances, actors must have at least two morning/midday availabilities a week. These rehearsals and performances will be scheduled around actor availability.
PERFORMANCE/REHEARSAL LOCATIONS
Touring performances will take place across Chicagoland (carpool potentially available). Rehearsals will take place at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church (Chicago, IL).

Self-Tape - Please prepare a short re-telling of a fairytale, with special care towards physicality and embodying multiple characters. No props! No costumes! Just your voice, body, mind, heart, and soul. Alternatively, you may prepare a comedic monologue in the style of theatre for young audiences; a monologue from one of our past productions can be accessed here, should you wish to use it.

Auditions/forms are due by Sunday, October 22nd at 11:59pm. Callbacks will be held November 2nd and 4th.
