Description:
Montana Shakespeare in the Parks (MSIP) will be holding auditions for its 2024 season and is seeking non-union actors for two unique touring programs: Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, and Shakespeare in the Schools (SIS).
Montana Shakespeare in the Parks employs 11 actors for a 15-week summer season that includes rehearsals and a multi-state tour in Montana, northern Wyoming, Eastern Idaho, western North Dakota and eastern Washington. Two plays rehearse for six weeks starting in mid-May and then tour the region for an eleven-week period ending in mid-September. The 2024 season will present Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE directed by Eva Breneman and HAMLET directed by MSIP Executive Artistic Director Kevin Asselin. Offers competitive salaries, a travel stipend, housing and per diem while on tour.
Shakespeare in the Schools employs 8 actors for a 10-week fall season that includes rehearsals and a multi-state tour in Montana and northern Wyoming. We are particularly looking for actor-educators who have the experience, interest, and ability to be effective teachers as well as actors. The play rehearses for three weeks starting in mid-September and then tours the region for a ten-week period ending in mid-December. The 2024 season will present A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM directed by Kerry Bishe. Offers competitive salaries, a travel stipend, housing, and per diem while on tour.
We will consider self-taped auditions, though live auditions are always preferable. If sharing a self-tape, you must post your audition to YouTube and provide us with a link (please select "unlisted" as your sharing preference). The deadline for recorded submissions is November 30th with decisions on hiring following live auditions.
MSIP is committed to diversity and seeks to promote a positive model of inclusion. We encourage performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, ages, service in the uniformed services, and veteran status to apply.
Audtions will be held in Chicago Monday, December 4th and Tuesday, December 5th with callbacks held on Friday, December 8th - by appointment only
If you are selected for an audition, please prepare two contrasting Shakespeare monologues (combined, not exceed 3 minutes in total). Additionally, please bring two headshots, two acting resumes (also, teaching resumes if you have one), and an instrument (no ukulele or piano) - if you plan to add music to your audition it still should not exceed 3 minutes. Ability to sing or play musical instruments is highly desired. Our SIS tours are particularly interested in hiring actors with an interest and ability to be effective teaching artists, as well as actors.
