Description:
Summer Place is Naperville's Community Theatre since 1966. In 2024, we are producing "All Shook Up" and "West Side Story". We are seeking applications for these productions as well as to be considered for future productions as well as Assistant Stage Manager positions. All Shook Up will begin rehearsals most likely in April. West Side Story will begin rehearsals in May. Production meetings for both shows will begin in early 2024. West Side Story: July 19- August 4th
Performances: Fridays, Saturdays: 7:30 Sundays at 2 pm
All performances are at Naperville Central High School. All rehearsals are in Naperville.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Stage Manager to join our team for the upcoming productions at Summer Place Theatre. The Stage Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of our theatrical productions, collaborating closely with directors, cast members, and technical teams to bring our performances to life.
Responsibilities:
Production Coordination:
Collaborate with directors, designers, and technical teams to plan and execute the production schedule.
Manage and oversee all aspects of rehearsals, ensuring adherence to the production timeline.
Communication and Organization:
Serve as the primary point of contact between the director and the production team.
Facilitate effective communication among cast and crew members.
Maintain accurate and organized production documentation, including rehearsal schedules, contact lists, and production notes, and rehearsal reports for each rehearsal to be sent out to the cast and production staff within 24 hours.
Rehearsal and Performance Support:
Attend all rehearsals and performances, taking note of blocking, cues, and any necessary adjustments.
Coordinate backstage activities during performances, including scene changes, prop management, and actor entrances/exits.
Ensure the safety and well-being of cast and crew members during rehearsals and performances.
Problem-Solving:
Anticipate and address logistical and technical challenges during rehearsals and performances.
Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the production process.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Stage Manager in a theatre setting.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Familiarity with theatrical terminology and production processes.
Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic nature of live theatre.
Additional Information:
This is a contract position with a commitment to attend all rehearsals and performances.
