Description:
iambe theatre ensemble announces auditions for the debut production of Wake Up, Mrs. Moore by Julie Marie Myatt, running April 12 - 28 at Elgin Art Showcase, Elgin, IL, directed by Gail Cannata.
It's 1970 and young feminist Virginia Moore is ready to change the world. Marching against the Vietnam War and for equal rights for women, Virginia is going to make a better world for all. After being struck in the head after a rally, she lapses into a coma for 40 years. Her husband Glenn and sister Alma visit her bedside to share the events and years of the American life she is missing, while Virginia travels the globe and experiences the feminist dream in her mind. When Virginia miraculously awakes, what has changed in America? Is this the future Virginia imagined, and who continues to sleep?
This is a non-equity production.
Actors will receive a flat $100 stipend.
