Seeking strong singing adult actors that are 18+ years of age. Local hires only (no housing or travel provided). We encourage Trans and Gender Non-Conforming performers to submit as genders listed as those of the character, not the performer. All actors must have been up to date on your Covid vaccinations before Sunday 12/23/23 for consideration.

WHEN:
Adults Ages 18+ In Person Auditions will be on Sunday, January 7th, 2024, 5pm-9pm. Auditions will be at BrightSide Theatre's Rehearsal Studio, 1989 University Lane, Unit D, Lisle, IL 60532. Sign up for a time at https://signup.com/go/gKkwEUs Prepare a 16-bar cut of a song that shows off your acting strengths as well as vocal range in the style of this show. An accompanist will be provided. Bring Headshot/Resume. Bring clothes/shoes you can dance in if you're invited to stay for the dance call.

Callbacks: will be in person at our Rehearsal Space in Lisle on the evening of Sunday, January 14.

Time Commitment: Rehearsals will begin mid April 2024, and take place on Sunday through Thursday evenings. Not all cast is called to each rehearsal. Tech week is June 2, 2024 through June 6, 2024. No rehearsal conflicts will be accepted for Tech Week or any performances.

Performances: All performances will be at the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall on the Campus of North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth in Naperville. Opening 6/7/24; Closing 6/23/24 (Fri/Sat evenings at 8pm and Sat/Sun matinees at 2pm - 12 performances total)

Pay Rate: $300 Stipend

CAST BREAKDOWN:
Jesus of Nazareth - Rock Tenor/Strong Actor - Leader of the twelve disciples, called the "Son of God" and "King of the Jews". Has a difficult time accepting his fate without answers on why he must die. Must command the stage with power and calmness.

Judas Iscariot -Rock Tenor/Strong Dancer/Strong Actor - Narrator of the story who is one of the twelve apostles of Jesus who is concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus' fame. Believes in Jesus' teachings but has started to grow weary of those in power coming after him and his followers.

Mary Madgalene - Mezzo-Soprano/Strong Singer/Actor - a follower of Jesus who is falling in love with Jesus.

King Harod - Baritone - Strong Character Actor - The King of Galilee who judges Jesus after first being taken to Pilate. Comedic role.

Caiaphas - Bass Strong Singer/Actor - One of the main antagonists who is a high priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation. He is a man in power who fears losing that power to Jesus.

Peter - Baritone Strong Singer/Dancer - One of the twelve apostles who denies Jesus to save himself.

Pontius Pilate - Baritone Strong Singer/Actor - Governor of Judea who foresees the events of Jesus' crucifixion from beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented with that very situation.

Simon Zealotes - Rock Tenor Strong Singer/Dancer - One of Jesus's twelve apostles who urges Jesus to lead the followers into battle against the Romans. High energy.

Annas - Countertenor Strong Singer/Actor - One of the main antagonists and fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat. Annas is more conniving than Caiaphas.

Ensemble - Strong Singers/Strong Dancers who will play Apostles, Priests, Judas' Tormentors, Moneychangers, Temple Ladies, Merchants, Soul Girls, Angry Mob, Roman Soldiers, Lepers, Harod's Dancers, servants, etc.
