Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is holding auditions for 9 To 5. 9 To 5, music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, will be directed by Landree Fleming (she/her), music directed by Harper Caruso (she/her), and choreographed by Jenna Schoppe (she/her). 9 To 5 Description:
Three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can't do, even in a man's world. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy, and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy - giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down.

9 To 5 Character Descriptions:

- Violet (Female, 40-50) The company's Head Secretary and Mr. Hart's Administrative Assistant. She's a widow who juggles work and being a single mom. Strong, ambitious, smart, efficient, while also having a tender side. Vocal range top: D5, Vocal range bottom: F3.

- Doralee (Female, 20-30) A young spitfire who works at Mr. Hart's office. Genuinely friendly with a strong sense of self and self-worth. Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: G3.

- Judy (Female, 30-35) The "new girl" at the firm, she's been burned by her husband's affair and thrust into the working world. A bit meek yet incredibly determined and hopeful. Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: Ab3.

- Franklin Hart (Male, 45-50) One of the firm's executives and a notorious chauvinist. He is somewhat capable of faking charm. Arrogant, self-absorbed. Vocal range top: Gb4, Vocal range bottom: C3.

- Roz Keith (Female, 35-45) The attentive office gossip and snitch. Loves and lives by the rules and expects others to do the same. She has an unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything she can to win his approval. Vocal range top: C5, Vocal range bottom: G3.

- Joe (Male, 25-35) A young office accountant. Honest and kind and smitten with Violet. Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: B2.

- Dwayne (Male, 25-35) Doralee's devoted husband. He is very supportive of her professional pursuits. Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: E2.

- Josh/Jess (Male or Female, 15-18) Violet's bit of a stoner teenager. Loves and thinks highly of their mom.

- Missy (Female, 20-35) Franklin Hart's wife, unaware of her husband's true nature. Deserves better.

- Maria (Female, 20-30) A young and vibrant secretary in Hart's office. Vocal range top: D5, Vocal range bottom: F4.

- Dick (Male, 35-45) Judy's soon-to-be ex-husband. Cheated on Judy. Self-absorbed and selfish.

- Kathy (Female, 30-40) A secretary in Hart's office with a tendency to gossip. Vocal range top: D5, Vocal range bottom: G4.

- Margaret (Female, 30-40) A secretary in Hart's office who enjoys a frequent cocktail...or three.

- Tinsworthy (Male, 50-65) Franklin Hart's boss and Chairman of the Board. A decent man, who may be wiser to Hart's ways than he lets on.

- Bob (Male, 20-30) Mr. Hart's golden boy.

- Ensemble To play multiple characters including office employees, police officers, hospital employees.
