Gaelic Park Players is holding auditions for its Spring 2024 play: Anyone Could Rob A Bank by Thomas Coffey. Directed by Julie Zebleckis
In this comical farce, three men, Badger, Jerreen and Windy, discuss how easy it would be to rob the local bank and they come up with the perfect plan. Within days and to everyone's dismay, they awake to the news that the local bank has been robbed. Given that the robbery was conducted using many of the details of their own scheme, they begin to suspect each other.
Characters (Ages shown are stage age)
Badger Grey: (Age 50-60) - A know it all and a bit of a bluffer. He can be a good man and loves his family in a curmudgeonly way.
Tony: (Age 35 to 40) - Good looking and quietly spoken. He has an English accent. He seems to get along with everyone, but there is something mysterious about him.
Jerreen: (Age 45 to 55) - Badger's brother. He is fussy and excitable. His job is making coffins and he sometimes likes to joke about that.
Windy: (Age 60 to 70) - Badger's neighbor and friend. A man of few words. He belches frequently. (Actor must be able to belch on cue.)
Sargeant: (Age 25 to 30) - Highly intelligent and well spoken, can also be excitable and quick tempered.
Mickey: (Age 18 to 25) - Badger's nephew. Works for Jerreen. Talks, eats, sleeps nothing but boxing. He is always hopping around shadowing, flooring imaginary opponents, scowling.
Noreen: (Age 20 to 25) - Badger's daughter. Pretty, flighty, flirtatious. Fed up with small town life. Loves music, always humming.
Sarah: (Age 50 to 60) - Badger's wife. Dreamy, vague. Generally talks off subject, but she is not what she seems.
Auditions will be held at Gaelic Park, 6119 W. 147th Street, Oak Forest, IL (Emerald East Room)
Performance Dates: At 8:00 pm Fridays, April 12th & 19th and Saturdays, April 13th & 20th; at 3:00 pm Sundays, April 14th & 21st
