Description:
Snails on a Bike is seeking a child/teen actor for their upcoming production of How To Defend Yourself by Liliana Padilla! Snails on a Bike is a theatre collective that performs exclusively in site specific/found spaces and focuses on new plays with a voice for young people and audiences. We are thrilled to be doing How to Defend Yourself, a play that we believe adds vital nuance to the conversation about consent and sexual violence on college campuses. We are seeking:
SUS, 6, she/her/hers. a young child of color who makes a wish.
Age range can be 6-16 but to appear young. She will only be needed for the very last scene of the play to come on stage to make a wish/blow out a candle. Production is possibly interested in pre-recording the moment and using a "home video" look during the live performance.
Stipend $100 guaranteed.
Depending on if production decides to pre-record the moment:
Maximum 2 rehearsals and 7 performances
Minimum 1 rehearsal + filming the moment of blowing out the candle
If needed for performances, the dates will be March 21-23, March 25 "industry night", and March 29-31. Location TBD. We are seeking a storefront gym in Chicago to host us.
