Description:
The Beverly Arts Center announces in person auditions on Wednesday, February 28th for its professional, non-equity production of The Diary of Anne Frank, directed by Abby Lee. All actors must be local and able to commute to the southwest side of Chicago for rehearsals and performances. Invited callbacks will take place at the Beverly Arts Center on Thursday, February 29th.
We are also accepting video submissions through Tuesday, February 27th.
All actors will receive a stipend for this production. Stipend amounts may differ based on the time commitment of each role.
The Beverly Arts Center welcomes and encourages performers of all genders, ethnicities, and identities. Nonbinary and gender-fluid performers are encouraged to submit for any role they are interested in. Character breakdowns are based on the age and gender of the characters as written in the script.

This production is committed to diversity and encourages performers of all ethnicities to attend. Please know that regardless of skin color, you should sound and behave as if you are people from Amsterdam in the early 1940s.
Character Descriptions:
Anne Frank - early teenager/tween, highly intelligent, tempestuous, full of vim and vigor, hilarious
Margot Frank - teenager, warm, patient, dutiful, reliable
Otto Frank - 40s, warm, patient, the voice of reason
Edith Frank - 40s, resilient, strong, impatient
Mr. Van Daan - 40s, gregarious, passionate, full of life, loud, loves to eat, drink and be merry
Mrs. Van Daan - 40s, comes from wealth, expresses and experiences emotion fully, entitled.
Peter Van Daan - teenager, loner, misunderstood, particularly seeking trans or non-binary actor.
Mr. Dussel - 40s-60s, loner, disgruntled, cantankerous, particularly seeking LGBTQIA actor.
Mr. Kraler - 40s-60s - warm, full of empathy
Miep Gies - 20-30, sweet, full of empathy and life, THIS ROLE IS CAST.
Performances: In addition to weekend performances Thursday-Sunday, Anne Frank will have two early morning matinees for local schools. Actors must be available for all performances.
Performances- April 4th & 5th (7:30pm), 6th & 7th (2:00pm), 8th & 9th (10:30am, School Matinee performances), 11th & 12th (7:30pm), 13th & 14th (2:00pm)
Rehearsals: Tentative rehearsals will take place Monday-Thursday from 5:00-9:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00am-4:00pm beginning March 4th. Tech commitment will be March 25th-April 3rd.
Please prepare one monologue under two minutes in length, and bring a headshot and resume with you to the audition.
