Description:
The Warehouse Theatre Company is looking to cast three roles for its upcoming debut show performing in Lincoln Park in late May/early June. Rehearsals will be held Sun-Tues starting Sunday 4/21 with dress rehearsals beginning Wednesday, May 28th.
THE ROLES
1. Joe Keller, M 50s/60s. Joe is a businessman of stoic demeanor who carries a dreadful secret that serves as a guillotine permanently prepared to drop upon him. He justifies his crime with the love he has for his family and how much he is able to do for them as a free man, but that noble sentiment is belied by the other side of the coin of humanity; cowardice in the face of responsibility. His demeanor is intentionally jovial, and his speech is simple and slow of pace, but when pushed into a difficult spot he becomes a bully and a tyrant.
2. Sue Bayliss, F ~30s/40s. Sue is a member of the neighborhood "chorus" with a practical, sometimes cynical mindset who challenges the Keller family's heightened sense of idealism. Her harsh assessment of the people around her stems from the uncertainty of the world in a post war economy, a time of American bounty built on violence. In spite of her rough edges, Sue is a good woman whose primary goal is to protect herself, her family, and her way of life.
3. Jim Bayliss, M ~30s/40s. Jim is also a member of the neighborhood "chorus", married to Sue Bayliss and father of their children. Jim is a good natured man who is close friends with his neighbors Joe and Chris Keller, a doctor who earns a good living, but has dreams to more rewarding, lower paying work. His kind and understanding presence serves as a guiding star in some moments of the show.
